I wonder what software is available for conversion of pdfs to editable format for translation. And how expensive this software would be.
Thanks!
Heinrich

No adobe Apr 21, 2008

What I mean is scanning software like Abbyy Finereader or other ocr-programs and cheap viewer-editing software for pdf.

I need to figure out what would be the real costs of switching to Apple in additions to the more expensive hardware.

How much did you pay for your pdf-software?

why not free Wf's PlusTools? Apr 21, 2008

As you know already, it is an unrealistic attempt to try to reconstruct a pdf file backwards. In case you use Ms Word on Mac, then you might install a free companion of Wordfast: PlusTools, and convert quite nicely a pdf file into a good doc, rtf, even formatted from the point of font calibration, no images. Open Windows in the Mac as a application more, that's all.

I use VMware. All my Windows applications and Dics (if needed) are running at the same time with Mac OSX Leopard.

It run better and faster!
For example, I hear music in Mac and use Dragon NS at the same time in "Windows" NO problem.

Paste into Word Jun 9, 2008

Hi,

I regularly receive double-column pdfs and I simply select, copy and paste into Word. Then it's just a matter of removing end-of-lines but that can be done easily.

Once in a while, the pdf has been coded in such a way that this method doesn't work and I have to copy and paste paragraph by paragraph (but remember those are two-column documents.

Hope this helps.

Marie-Andree
