I agree with "appeared" since quite often "evacuar" means "to attend" and in clurt it would be an appearance. I also added this hearing since "audiencia" is a hearing.

neutral Jennifer Levey : What hearing?//But there (probably) was no hearing - NN simply submitted its views on the matter within the prescribed deadline. That doesn't constitute a hearing, or even imply attending or an 'appearance'. What if they submitted it by e-mail?
