'onderzoek naar/van de microbiologische belasting' would be more appropriate
This would be more intelligible:
Vervolgens wordt er zoals beschreven onderzoek gedaan naar de microbiologische belasting van het product met de betreffende pathogenen.
of
De microbiologische belasting van het product met de betreffende pathogenen zal vervolgens worden onderzocht zoals beschreven
If you wanted to use Michael's suggestion you would need to come up with something like (perhaps Michael can come up with a better construction):
Subsequently a microbial load test will be performed on the product with respect to the relevant pathogens as described
Another option is perhaps:
