Since the wastes are organically based, the channel 3 containing the wastes provides a "shelter" for collecting the wastes. After the (or some of the) wastes are collected in the channel, water at an upper level of the pond becomes clearer and this leads to water exiting the pond being clearer. Further, the ""sheltered condition"" of the channel 3 prevents or at least reduces hatching of eggs from parasites.
