Spanish term

olivares en formación

Spanish to English Science Livestock / Animal Husbandry antibiotics and alternati
SPAIN. This appears in verbatim interviews with olive farmers. I'm assuming it refers to olive groves/trees that are not fully formed yet, but I'm not sure if there is a more specific term. I'm also waiting for the client to get back with suggestions, so I'm posting this here meanwhile to see if anyone comes up with anything more informed or inspiring. TIA.

Farmers talk about a stage where there are ***no flowers** and no peaches, no cherries .....at the research Univ of Idaho, etc the juvenile stage is one of the many vegetive stages, during vegetive stage in some trees, grafting is easier and lateral buds and roots can be grown. plants are growing well and fast but bear no fruit.

Note from asker:
It seems to be referring to a particular stage, but I don't know if it means inflorescence, flowering or whatever. Waiting for client feedback.
The client says it simply refers to young olive groves, so you've hit the nail on the head.

fledgling olive groves

Hi Neil - just an idea, the register might not be quite right (sounds a bit literary), or it may be there is a more specific term, but this sprung to mind. Maybe it will trigger other ideas!

Note from asker:
I thought it might refer to a specific stage of development, but the client has just got back to me saying it just means young olive groves. Thanks for your suggestions.
I do like "fledgling", but am using the more prosaic "young" this time. Thanks for the help :-)

agree philgoddard : Young is fine too, but you were first.
