Dzień dobry :) Tłumaczę książkę pt. "My Arctic Journal" autorstwa Josephine Peary opisującą XIX-wieczną ekspedycję na Grenlandię. Od razu zagwozdka: celem ich podróży jest Whale Sound leżąca w północno-zachodniej części Grenlandii. Szukam i szukam, ale nie mogę nigdzie znaleźć odpowiednio szczegółowej mapy Grenlandii w języku polskim. Pomożecie?
On June 6, 1891, the steam-whaler ''Kite,'' which was to bear the expedition of the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences northward, set sail from the port of New-York, her destination being Whale Sound, on the northwest coast of Greenland, where it had been determined to pass the winter, preliminary to the long traverse of the inland ice which was to solve the question of the extension of Greenland in the direction of the Pole.

There is little consistency in the use of "sound" in English-language place names.

Discussion
Najmniejsza szerokość Whale Sound wynosi ok. 16,5 km = 10,2 mili między (patrz na mapę w moim linku) C. Trautwein na lądzie Grenlandii a Herbert Island. Pomiar własny na zdjęciu w Google Maps. Dla porównania najmniejsza szerokość cieśniny Sund: ok. 4,9 km, czyli ponad 3 razy mniej. Myślę, że Whale Sound zasługuje na miano cieśniny.
Tyle z mojej strony w tym temacie.
