Discussion

Brendan McNally (asker) Apr 17:
@all

Thanks, the deadline has passed so I can't ask the client now. Although Daryo's answer is plausible, I decided to go with AllegroTrans' suggestion.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to help.
AllegroTrans Apr 17:
@ all Daryo has a very credible point here and it may be better for Brendan to inquire of his client
Daryo Apr 17:
"THE right answer"? With what's available so far, this "NIA" is far more likely to be s.t. "internal" to this company.

1 - the heading for the whole list is "Les politiques de contrôle interne :"

2 - this "NIA" is paired with what can be only an "internal policy" (Politique Fournisseur) AND is associated with implementing the recommendation of some internal document (l’audit 2022).
Brendan McNally (asker) Apr 15:
Hi all, I think @Allegrotrans has come up with the right answer, see below, thanks so much for taking the time to help.
Bashiqa Apr 15:
@ Asker NIa appears after "Supplier policy" which surely relates to purchases, i.e. Achats. You can`t always find references to abbreviations, only explanations of what they mean.
Brendan McNally (asker) Apr 15:
Hi Bashika,
thanks for your suggestion, but can you explain how it relates to the abbreviation NIA, which is what the question was?

Regarding Yassine's suggestion, it does relate to the term NIA, but as I wrote, it doesn't appear to relate to the subject of the source text in any way.
Bashiqa Apr 15:
@ Asker Yassine gave you a very plausible translation. Ihave posted what I believe to be a plausible translation. Do feel free to take no notice of either.
Brendan McNally (asker) Apr 15:
Thanks again, but this has nothing to do with the subject of the text

Brendan McNally (asker) Apr 15:
thanks, I did a Google search with quotes for of "Normes Internes d'Achats", and no results were found, either as a term in itself, or abrreviated as NIA
AllegroTrans Apr 15:
"Normes Internes d'Achats" distinctly possible
Brendan McNally (asker) Apr 15:
Thanks all, to be clear, what I'm looking for is what the abbreviation NIA might stand for, preferably with a reference of use, I think it's French, but it could be English
Brendan McNally (asker) Apr 15:
Thanks, do you have any references for "Normes Internes d'Achats"?
Lisa Rosengard Apr 15:
Could it be internal regulation on sale purchase?
It's about policies on internal regulation, security, policy on responses to malicious practice, health and safety, supplier policy, regulation of contracted purchase.
NIA" likely stands for "Normes Internes d'Achats"

@allegrotrans Thanks a lot, that sounds right and fits with the context perfectly.

thanks!
neutral Daryo : not entirely impossible, but "auditing" is concerned with FAR MORE than just "Politique Fournisseurs" - it makes sense to you to have two terms with such widely different scopes next to each other?

Internal Purchasing Policy

From quick search, I`ve come up with this.
Internal controls in procurement are policies and procedures that control how purchasing is done and what can be purchased. They define who can approve purchases, what suppliers can be used, what payment terms are acceptable, and more.

@AllegroTrans, apologies if I came over as not being humble, it wasn't intended to read like that.
Peer comment(s):

neutral AllegroTrans : A very cedible suggestion; asker could be a tad more humble

neutral philgoddard : I agree with the asker, and I don't think any more humility is required. You haven't said what you think NIA stands for.

agree Daryo : NIA = "Normes internes d'achats / d’acquisitions" makes far more sense, when next to / paired with "Politique Fournisseurs"
