نرجح أن هذا الزعل قد نشأ عند هدم ابن خليفة قلعة علي بن عمرو.. ونتيجة توترات بين علي بن عمرو وسلمان بن أحمد آل خليفة حاكم البحرين خلال نفس الفترة التي كان فيها آل خليفة في البحرين يعاقبون أنصار رحمة والوهابيين السابقين، ومن الطبيعي أن يكون علي بن عمرو على رأس قائمة المعاقبين، خاصة أنه كان يشكل حلقة الوصل مع الدولة السعودية الأولى التي كانت تفرض إتاوات على آل خليفة قبل التحالف العماني البحريني وهزيمة ابن عفيصان ورحمة حوالي١٢٢۷هـ
