Lonesome, desolate, barren

These are other possible explanations, also based on Arabic. You can say
واد وحش "wadin wahsh", meaning a desolate or barren valley.

Also قرية وحش "qaryatun wahsh" is a deserted or remote village.

To say that person is left lonesome and forlorn, you could say
ترك وحشا "turika wahsh-an"

Many other variations on these meanings exist.

THank you
agree SpellerGuy : The beast in me has no choice but to agree with the Arabic meaning put forth, however, let us not confuse the word with Wabash, the river that flows through the great State of Indiana.

Beast

Declined
in Arabic it means beast. It's also an American river. I don't know what kind of political reference you have in mind.
Peer comment(s):

agree Vladimir Dubisskiy : though the river is WABASH (Illinois-Indiana boundary)

Everybody knows about the Wabash, but there is also a Wahash valley and river.

وحش

The name literally means "wild," the reference being to wild animals.

In Centeral Arabia, the name is also used for girls, with the intended meaning of "deer" or "antelope."
