Lonesome, desolate, barren
These are other possible explanations, also based on Arabic. You can say
واد وحش "wadin wahsh", meaning a desolate or barren valley.
Also قرية وحش "qaryatun wahsh" is a deserted or remote village.
To say that person is left lonesome and forlorn, you could say
ترك وحشا "turika wahsh-an"
Many other variations on these meanings exist.

: The beast in me has no choice but to agree with the Arabic meaning put forth, however, let us not confuse the word with Wabash, the river that flows through the great State of Indiana.

in Arabic it means beast. It's also an American river. I don't know what kind of political reference you have in mind.
