Hindi term

tap (?)

Hindi to English Other Other
Greetings,

I am told that tap = fever, as in "Doolally tap". However, I can find no trace of this word. If it is Hindi, please could you write it in Devanagari for me and give a precise translation.

Thank you,

Simon

ताप

Normally fever would be बुखार (bukhaar) in Hindi, but since the most obvious symptom of fever is excessive body heat, it is often referred to as ताप (taap) which means heat.

disagree jamshed : Well we can still be more specific."Havamaan" in Gujarati is "Weather" & "Taapman" = "Climate" & is used to refer to the Temperature for any given day especially for Heat in Summer

Taap is a Sanskrit word which exists in all Indian languages. Incidently, in Gujarati, fever is called "taav" which is derived from "taap" of Sanskrit. Gujarati for climate is "havamaan" not "taapman". The latter is "temperature".
