W wypadku, gdyby w toku realizacji scalania akcji doszło do powstania tzw. resztówek scaleniowych, czyli takiej liczby akcji o dotychczasowej wartości nominalnej 0,06 zł (sześć groszy), posiadanych przez akcjonariusza, która zgodnie z przyjętym stosunkiem wymiany (5:1), nie przekłada się na jedną akcję o nowej wartości nominalnej 0,30 zł (trzydzieści groszy), to scalenie akcji zostanie przeprowadzone w taki sposób, że w zamian za akcje stanowiące resztówki scaleniowe akcjonariusze będący ich posiadaczami otrzymają po jednej akcji o nowej wartości nominalnej w zamian za resztówkę scaleniową.

Any time there is a share adjustment from spin-off, merger, stock split, or reverse slit; there is zero chance for the stockholders to hang on to fractional shares. They are turned into cash.
For the employees in the 401K program or investors via a mutual fund or ETF this isn't a problem. Because the fraction of a share left over is compared to the thousands or millions of shares owned by the fund as a collective.
For the individual investor in the company this can be a problem that they aren't happy about.
In some cases the fractional share is a byproduct that will result from any of these events. I've been running a strategy in my Roth to sell cash secured puts to get into positions of stock at a good price, reinvest dividends while holding, and sell OTM covered calls against it to generate income until the shares are called away. If I want to get out I'll just move the strike closer to the money to squeeze premium from it.
It's been working well enough, but it leaves fractional shares left over when a lot has reinvested dividends. Schwab won't let me sell my .5191 shares of MDLZ (Gives an invalid quantity error), so it looks like I'm stuck with this $20 position in my portfolio. Kind of funny but annoying.
Is there some other way to sell fractional shares? Going forward, should I just not reinvest dividends? I'd rather not have a long list of tiny positions clouding things up in my account. Thanks for reading this far."

Resztówki i niedobory scaleniowe
Scalanie akcji jest łączeniem pakietów starych akcji w jedną nową, zgodnie ze stosunkiem wymiany. Może to powodować, powstanie tzw. resztówek scaleniowych, czyli liczby akcji o dotychczasowej wartości nominalnej, posiadanych przez jednego akcjonariusza, która nie przekłada się na jedną akcję o nowej wartości nominalnej. Brakujące do jednej nowej akcji stare akcje to tzw. niedobory scaleniowe. Problem może być rozwiązany albo poprzez umorzenie resztówek, albo poprzez uzupełnienie niedoborów. Z przyczyn praktycznych najczęściej uzupełnia się niedobory. Ktoś jednak musi dodać brakujące akcje.
