вкладышевая техника

Russian to English Science Archaeology Palaeolithic stone technologies
This has come up a couple of times now in the text.

Example 1:
По мнению А. П. Окладникова, эти процессы имели не регрессивный, а прогрессивный характер, знаменуя собой раннее начало перехода к индивидуальным формам охоты, выразившийся в широком распространении *вкладышевой техники*.

Example 2:
Вначале это привело к развитию солютрейских форм наконечников и острий, позже первенство переходит к орудиям из кости, появляется *вкладышевая техника* и связанная с ней микролитизация инвентаря.

Any ideas?

Discussion

Alan Campbell (asker) Dec 19, 2006:
D'oh! Thanks to you both for responding. I now feel rather silly for not having checked whether I'd asked this before. It's such a long text and I'm now going through it for the second time. At least I'm consistently stumped by the same phrases!

My humble apologies for wasting your time.

Late Later Stone Age hunting technologies were different from those practiced during the Middle Stone Age. Blades and bladelets were probably used as inserts for a variety of composite tools, not all of them intended for hunting (Fig. 3). Some were not used at all, but kept in stock to replace broken or lost inserts.

microburin technique

Just to remind you. It seems that you already asked this question a couple of months ago.

A microlith, a very small stone tool made on a bladelet, was produced by the microburin technique. Microliths were produced in large numbers at the end of the Paleolithic and especially in the Mesolithic, were shaped by abrupt retouch into various shapes and used for many purposes, such as barbs and tips for arrows and spears.
