Necrorealism As a Mirror
There are nearly 5000 citations in English in the Internet related to the St. Petersburg-based film movement of Yevgeni Yufit, which call it "Necrorealism."
The problem remains that in Russian it's typically called "некрореализм", so I don't know if there's some special significance to this book title being as if mapped back into English - "-реалити". But, if this film movement is what it's about, "necrorealism" is what it's usually called.

Looks like VooDooMooRt did the right research. So, it would be "The Necrorealists As a Mirror". If he/she enters that as an answer, I'll vote for it!

Thanks, Helen. I'm with Susan on "the need". I think it's thumbing your nose at the reader, to transliterate a title without saying what it means. Scholars used to sprinkle texts w Latin, since target readers wd understand; not the case w Russian today.

I think it should be left in Russian, with the translation in parenthesis. It's not much use to a non-Russian-speaking reader to see the name of a book and have no clue what it is about--even if no English translation exists.

In this particular instance, it sounds lilke it would be advisable to translate this book into no languages at all, and if possible, put the Russian edition in the "recycle bin." :)

: The artist grouping is called Necrorealism, and there are many, many cases where one just does not translate a title, particularly if it is not available in EN - that just gives a reader the impression it is available in translation.

There are many ways, editorially, to make clear that it is a translation of the title. E.g., you put the title in italics and you put the translation in brackets in quotes, in roman type. It is better for the reader to know what you're talking about.
