The "трансоксианская пятерка" seems to be the five Soviet Central Asian countries of the former Soviet Union. But I'm not aware of any English term equivalent to "трансоксианский."

| That's actually what I did in the title, but I think it's a good thing to have in the glossary for future reference. Also, the author has a paragraph where he compares the Latin and Arabic names for the region, so I had to address it in the body of the text. |
