"АФПАК и трансоксианская пятерка: станет ли эта Центральная Азия большой"
The "трансоксианская пятерка" seems to be the five Soviet Central Asian countries of the former Soviet Union. But I'm not aware of any English term equivalent to "трансоксианский."

That's actually what I did in the title, but I think it's a good thing to have in the glossary for future reference. Also, the author has a paragraph where he compares the Latin and Arabic names for the region, so I had to address it in the body of the text. |
