Russian term

п/п

Russian to English Social Sciences Marketing Public opinion research
The abbreviation/acronym is contained in the upper left-hand cell (i.e., the first cell) of an 8-cell table. Two of the cells below the abbreviation/acronym contain only item numbers; the fourth is blank. The three cells to the right contain headings: "Work Description", "Sum (Rubles)", and "Sum ($)". While the overall subject is market research, the table contains project cost information.

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Jul 13, 2006:
TKS for the clarification There was no "No." in the source document. That would have made it too obvious. Were there a "No.", I would have left it in. In this case, eliminating the п/п, and leaving that cell blank was, I think, the correct approach.
Jack Doughty Jul 13, 2006:
Sorry, I don't think I worded my answer clearly enough. What I meant was, leave the п/п out. the "No." should stay in.

I would just leave it out

Top left-hand cells of tables may be No. п/п in Russian, but in English we don't feel the need to point out that the numbers in the left-hand column are in numerical order, it is taken for granted.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Appreciate the response. If pressed, I'd say "No.", but leaving it out entirely is most appropriate in this case."
