Russian term

всеединствo

Russian to English Art/Literary Philosophy
Во всеединстве мира художник видит залог синтеза любви, вечной женственности и красоты.

I have a translation of 'unity' or 'Alleinheit' (as in All-Einheit) but would be interested in any other options which you may think superior to this.

One option might be 'one-ness'.

Ta muchly!

Buddhist walks into a pizzeria, and says "Make me one with everything."

Thanks Thanks to all for your careful thoughts and proposals. It seems to me that there is no one word or phrase which expresses the 'neatness' of the source.

"oneness of everything"

Given the that the topic is philosophy it reminds me a great deal of Russian Symbolists. See: "The poetics of personal behaviour: the interaction of life and art in Russian modernism (1890-1920)" D. Ioffe (2009). Particularly references to Sovoviev and Federov in Chapter 3... see URL below.

agree Olga Cartlidge : Also known as "universal oneness" or "the oneness of the Universe" among proponents of Taoism.

agree Rachel Douglas : Yes, I was going to say "the essential oneness of the world". I realize that "oneness" and "unity" can be synonyms, but "unity" has come to mean, more frequently, "the coming together of disparate parts", while "oneness" is just plain oneness.

agree Libero_Lang_Lab : 'universal oneness' - the more i read it the more i like it

unity

Гыыы! Everybody's trying to sound so smart when it comes to philosophy.

Well, I'm not an expert on philosophical stuff, but I think, with this 'unity', you, at least, have a Wikipedia article to stick in the face of your proofreader.
Note from asker:
Thanks Dan and Dima! Perhaps it's just another case of English being the poor cousin of Russian in terms of its expressiveness....
Peer comment(s):

agree Libero_Lang_Lab : I can see why Simon wants to try and look beyond this as the translation, but I think it is probably the best available

wholeness of the universe

1 represents ******the unbroken wholeness of the universe.****** No matter what you do with it, or no matter what you appear to do with it, it remains in one piece. That is the "all is one", or "we are all one" idea. It is not the number 1 as compared to 2 or 3 or 4, but rather a one that is all-that-is, that inherently couldn't be any more or less.

The perfection and *****wholeness of the universe***** seemed so obvious, so simple, so complete, so absolute.

agree engltrans : (можно еще all впереди поставить - all wholeness, ИМХО)

Thank you. Если поставить впереди all, то как термин это выражение рискует стать на грань тавтологического "масла масляного".
