Ooops, left out \"dissipated\" energy...
Dissipation is the conversion of energy into heat by friction in a mechanical process, or by resistive joule heating in an electrical process. From your brief context it\'s difficult to tell what process is involved.

Comment: "I've chosen Jack Slep's version because it allows me to avoid the repeated use of the word "dissipate" (dissipated energy dissipated as heat)
Thanks to everyone"

 ,
fraction of energy dissipated as heat
"доля энергии" in this context is a quantitative measure, say 1/n or so many %, and is calculated using the two parameters, hence fraction, not portion
