Microsoft Word - Options Disappearing?

If anyone can help me out here, I will be so grateful!! Before my laptop goes sailing out the window...

I seem to be losing menu options in my Word toolbar? (using Microsoft Word for Mac) I have lost the ability to rotate textboxes (which I did about a week ago - the option is there but I can't select it anymore, I'm having to go to old documents, copy textboxes I rotated a week ago and pasting them to new documents to use... frustration!), and now today there is no "language" icon ...
