I know that this usually means electric power supply, but I am not sure whether this is correct in my context.

This is listed as one of the duties of an electrician on a drilling rig: поддержание в рабочем состоянии электропитания СПБУ.

My husband, who is a technical chap, is adamant that the electric power supply would mean the generator, and that this wouldn't be the electrician's concern (engineers instead). He thinks it must mean the electricity distribution..

Any thoughts most welcome.
