I am a translator by trade with an academic background. I have taught English at University level for many years and have published some academic papers in peer reviewed journals.

Having an academic background and born in the family of a professor of agriculture and a clinical neurologist, my first experience as a translator started with interpreting seminars and lectures in medicine. Later on it went on expanding to agriculture, genetics, psychology and finance/management, but also within the academic context.

I also used to work as a full-time translator for the Moscow management team of the BP oil company, where I worked for four years.

Since then I have worked as a linguistics researcher and a freelance translator, and both spheres of my job seem to have add and contribute to each other.

I used to live in Finland for several years and learnt Finnish at the University of Helsinki and since then Finnish has become my second work language as a translator. 

I have used Proz.com for many years and thanks to it I have acquired new skills like subtitling and proofreading. Still my major purposes here are to find new clients and develop professional networks.
