Hi, thanks for visiting!

Here are a couple of things about me:

1. I am a freelance translator, proofreader and editor with roughly a decade of experience in the field.

2. Prior to becoming a freelancer, I spent six years working in-house for an agency specialising in technical translation where I learned everything on the job and fine-tuned my research skills.

3. I hold a BA in German with Dutch from the University of Sheffield and I offer services from German and Dutch into English (UK and US variant).

Although I have a lot of experience with technical documentation (from welding equipment and milling tools through to agricultural machinery), I have translated and proofread texts from a wide range of industries and disciplines throughout my career and I have a particular knack for marketing/advertising/transcreation (more on that below).

Throughout many years of translating, I have discovered that my forte is marketing/advertising - I love working on a press release, website translation or coming up with a catchy slogan. I don't just translate everything word for word, I take context and audience into account and I always re-read the text with a fresh pair of eyes. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to making sure high-visibility texts don't sound like a translation, so you can be confident that you're getting a document where the focus isn't just on the meaning: it's also on creativity and polishing.

Quality over quantity is my motto!

I use a CAT tool (SDL Trados Studio, version 2022) to ensure quality and consistency in my work and I am also open to learning about and using other translation tools.
