I don't think it has anything to do with "chores" (small jobs that kids do in the US for their parents), but I guess it depends on the full context.

In an adult context: washing-up (as Diane says), washing your car, mowing the lawn, hoovering, polishing stuff, etc
I don't think it has anything to do with "chores" (small jobs that kids do in the US for their parents), but I guess it depends on the full context.
