Polish term

udowadniać, że się nie jest wielbłądem

Polish to English Art/Literary Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
Nie będę szczegółowo opisywać kontekstu, ale chodzi o uciążliwe i bezsensowne wielomiesięczne procedury przy wprowadzaniu leków na rynek. Po wyroku Eur Trybunału Sprawiedliwości procedury będę o wiele prostsze. Ogólnie chodzi o bezsens i absurdalność jakichś wymogów, procedury. Można to też odnieść do obecnych oświadczeń lustracyjnych i udowadnianiu, że się nie było wielbłądem :)

Sorry. I didn't get a notification of your comment and I've only just seen it. I agree with you - I think it comes from the circus and the tricks the animals are made to perform. Where it gets interesting is when you think about the fact that, in the case
Slawomir Nowodworski (asker) May 8, 2007:
I reckon the "hoop" metaphore comes from a circus where animals were made to jump through hoops. So both the Polish and English phrase refers to animals :)

:-)))
Slawomir Nowodworski (asker) May 8, 2007:
Sounds brilliant to me! :)
Slawomir Nowodworski (asker) May 8, 2007:
Thanks, Caryl, bu the meaning is along these lines: the importers will no longer have to struggle with the ridiculous/burdensome procedures.
Perhaps I will have to use plain English unlike the popular Polish idiom.
Slawomir Nowodworski (asker) May 8, 2007:
A w zdaniu brzmi to tak: Przedsiębiorcy zajmujący się importem równoległym leków nie będą już musieli udowadniać, że nie są wielbłądami.
