A bit confused by the meaning in the sentence!

El error ha de considerarse alto si es igual o superior al umbral de materialidad (normalmente el 5% del beneficio antes de impuestos), bajo si es inferior al 5% del umbral, y medio si está comprendido en el intervalo entre ambos. En virtud de la probabilidad de aparición, el riesgo se califica como probable **si el riesgo de que aparezca** es superior al 50%, posible si está comprendido entre el 5% y el 50%, remoto si es inferior al 5%.

if the likelihood of it happening/ocurring

'likelihood' is very often used in this context in preference to 'probability'

And it avoids writing 'the risk is regarded as 'probable' if the 'probability' ...
