as easy as cake

English to Russian Art/Literary Poetry & Literature as easy as cake
For something you tried hard at, but failed, then it happens that it has rather easy solution to it, a phrase in English is "as easy as cake".

Yes, Terry. I was about to suggest "as easy as pie" myself, but others got in ahead of me. And you're right that previous failure doesn't come into it. I hadn't heard of the film.

In the film 2010 John Lithgow's character tries to teach a Russian "a piece of cake" and "as easy as pie", but he gets it wrong and comes out with "a piece of pie" and "as easy as cake". I've not come across it otherwise. Prior failure is irrelevant btw.

I've never heard it in English anyway. Maybe you are thinking of "a piece of cake".

I think the term you're looking for is 'as easy as pie' - 'easy as cake' doesn't sound quite right to my native english ears!
