Discussion

Angela Dickson (X) Sep 15, 2008:
adjectivals Margaret, it's very common in French medical writing to find what appears to be an adjective, after which a noun is implied (and omitted) and you have to infer what it ought to be - in this case 'region' but it can often be a blood vessel or muscle, etc.
Yolanda Broad Sep 15, 2008:
Reposted from Clarifications section Michael Barnett: 12:24am Sep 15, 2008: Hi Margaret. "Right" and "paraumbilical" are adjectives modifying "dermabrasion", so the correct translation is "right paraumbilical dermabrasion", that is, dermabrasion just to the right of the umbilicus.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Michael Barnett : Hi Manu. Your translation is not bad, but that is a really strange diagram in the wikipedia ref. The area marked "lumbar" should be labeled "hypochondrium". "Lumbar" is on the back, same level. Interestingly, hypochondrium is the root of hypochondriac.
