2 falco2007 RE falco2007 A group of ladies is cooking

ИМХО здесь вырисовывается a pun(юморочек такой)
обыграть этот stirring, и проблем с this is pretty much it for you не будет
Кстати, почему this is pretty much IT for you?
falcon2007 (asker) May 29, 2009:
A group of ladies is cooking:

"Excuse me. How long have you been stirring?"
ITALIAN GRANDMOTHER
"Forty-seven years."
A lady saying to her daughter:
If you end up with Michael, this is pretty much it for you.

You’re the one who told me to take the chance with Michael...
Angela Greenfield May 29, 2009:
Depends on what they are talking about Could be very good, could be very bad. Generally means "you've reached the end". Could be very bad (хуже не бывает), could be very good (he is the best there is). More context would not hurt.

It looks like the mother is not happy about her daughter's choice, therefore I assume in your case the phrase is used in the negative connotation.

it is definitely a negative meaning in this context. Meaning that if you end up with (marry) Michael, you are finished.
Peer comment(s):
