Hostess sounds a little too 1950s for me...any other ideas on how to say this? I like entertaining, but can't seem to fit it in.

Tableware and Party Accessories

I don't think you should separate "ware" as a suffix. I know that not every reception is a "party" in the strict sense of the term, but that's the closest term I can think of. Anyway, there are all kinds of parties, including cocktail parties, which are like normal receptions.

The thing about \"entertainment\" is that it\'s almost always used for audiovisual equipment in American department stores these days: home entertainment centers, etc.

Tableware and Entertaining

I think that 'party accessories' is far too down-market for the French idea of 'art de table / recevoir' --- it suggests paper plates, 'cotillons', funny hats etc, a million miles from the equivalent section in a French store; I also feel that this is a rather implausible name for a section in an English store.

Given that we often have things like 'Home 'n' Wear', I think 'Entertaining' as a noun can be used, and avoids any possiblity of misunderstading with entertain-MENT
