español term

HAB=Habilitacion

español al inglés Otros Educación / Pedagogía Transcripts
Hello,

I am translating some transcripts from Colombia, and I cant seem to find a word for "HAB=Habilitacion", I am from Colombia so I know what it means; we use the word when we fail a subject in college or school and the school gives the student another chance to pass it. The student can take an exam or a 2-3 month course or it can also be arrange with the teacher.

Thanks,

Adriana

Thank you Sian.
agree Charles Davis : "Resit" definitely for BrE, but I think the correct term for AmE is "retake" or "repeat" (to remedy failure or improve grade); a "makeup" exam seems to be for when you miss the exam through illness, death in family, etc.

In USA, when a student has to retake a course, the transcripts show an R because the class or course was repeated. Make up tests are usually created for students that were absent to the class on the day they were supposed to take it.
Peer comment(s):

agree Yvonne Gallagher : Yes, "repeat" for AE and "Resit" for UK

remediation

Si es lo que en Venezuela llamamos reparación (cuando el estudiante va aplazado, puede presentar un examen para aprobar la materia)

También he visto "pass after supplementary exam" (en universidades australianas) o "remedial exam" o "remediation exam"

Según lo que yo entiendo "resit" y "retake" se refiere a presentar un examen en una fecha diferente a la inicialmente planificada
