Wine tasting notes
From the tasting notes for a white wine (Spain):
De un paja pálido, con recuerdos verdosos muy limpio y brillante, tiene mucho empaque, predomina la fruta tropical, integrando aromas perfectos, la piña madura, y la manzana el plátano... en boca es muy untuoso, con una sedosidad fantástica.
Thanks for your help!

Note from asker:
Many thanks, Phil. I saw that dictionary entry but failed to consider "presence" as a possibility for a descriptor for white wine. I'm still unsure what it would mean but perhaps it would be no less ambiguous than the original. |

: Well, well. I was just about to press the button with precisely this suggestion (which I worked out for myself), together with a remark about things not always being what they seem...

: yes, lots of presence or imposing. From some wine expert's tasting notes--Bramble and cherry dominate this imposing wine while hints of spice and vanilla accent its gentle charm

with punch / vigorous
Wine descriptions certainly put demands on the imagination, so here's a couple of alternatives.
“The classically African combination of meat and fruit requires a wine with punch and in my opinion a touch of rusticity."

A wine with punch and attitude that is bright and exciting to the taste-buds.

or
It is a vigorous wine with remarkable finesse.

it could be a solution, also if the word "empaque" it's commonly referred to the packaging of items.
