Spanish term

motorizado

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Human Resources
Estoy traduciendo unas hojas de vida del personal de una empresa venezolana y entre los cargos aparecen mensajero y motorizado.

Mensajero lo traduje como "errand boy" [An errand boy is a boy or young man employed by a shop or business to take messages, deliver goods, etc]

Discussion

lugoben Jun 10, 2014:
It will not be messenger or errand boy. They perform a myriad of tasks nowadays, the messenger part was left behind. The traffic conditions there are so bad that the motorcycle is used for more than messenger routines. It will be hard to pinpoint a term as it has no comparison elsewhere.

@phil! I think he likes to stay out of the "limelight", as he has many propoints ;-).
Yvonne Becker (asker) Jun 8, 2014:
Thanks, Phil. I found it like that, but had already changed it
philgoddard Jun 8, 2014:
Please don't translate mensajero as errand boy. No one since about 1930 has done a job with that title. It means messenger.

clerk and messenger

In my opinion, the errand boy is actually a clerk (there are many types and that should cover all general duties) whilst a "motorizado" is effectively a messenger as it has additional tasks than a courier.
