I am translating a political speech about the current laws of abortion in Chile which proposes to change these laws to make abortion legal in certain circumstances.
I am struggling to translate a whole sentence actually which contains the phrase 'no son arenas a'.
The paragraph begins a new section of the document which is entitled "Existe un contexto normativo global".
The paragraph reads as follows:
"Las modificaciones que han solicitado los organismos de Naciones Unidas encargados del monitoreo del cumplimiento de los tratados internacionales de derechos humanos no son ajenas a la forma en que en el context mundial se ha legislado sobre la interrupción del embarazo".
If anyone could help me piece this sentence together I would be so grateful!

Or not significantly different to, or anything along those lines. You could even simplify a long and complicated sentence by turning it into a positive statement, and saying something like "are quite similar to".

The overall sense is that the changes recommended by the UN bodies largely reflect the way in which individual countries have legislated on abortion.
By the way, I've noticed that in this and previous questions, you refer to "laws of abortion". I don't know if this affects your translation, but we would normally say "abortion laws".

This is the idea. The negative "no son ajenas" here is really an understated way of indicating that the preceding matter is indeed very relevant to the issue cited after said phrase (just like saying "is not at all irrelevant" would be in English).

I think the problem is about fitting it in with the rest of the sentence, and I would recommend that you reorganize that part so that you can draw a contrast between the recommendations and the legislation.
The original sentence is a little off because it's saying that the recommendations are similar to *the way in which*, whreas the actual comparison should be between the recommendations and the legislation.
