Spanish term

Despreocupados (here)

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Advertising / Public Relations Marketing surveys - consumer types/preferences
SPAIN. From a text about consumer preferences. I've been working in another area all day, so I'm not really in the zone for marketing questionnaires yet. This does appear in the proz glossary as "carefree", but I'm not keen on that definition for this marketing context. All suggestions welcome.

Tx guys Am translating something else right now, but I'll be back to this job again tomorrow. The jury's still out :)
Robert Forstag Apr 15, 2016:
@Adoración I would agree if the terms in question were being used *with the respondents*. But I think it highly unlikely that such is the case, and it instead seems to me that the most probable scenario is that these labels are being used exclusively by and for the persons involved in conducting the survey and interpreting its results.
I personally feel that neither "non-discriminating" nor "unconcerned" are ideal choices for a questionnaire (if they are indeed to be used in a questionnaire) because both words could lead to misinterpretation due to ambiguity. I believe some respondents may think of "discriminatory" when they see "discriminating", and of "worried" when they see "concerned".
Robert Carter Apr 15, 2016:
@Neil In another context, indifferent would be fine, however, in this case you possibly need either "concerned" or "discriminating" as the opposite "unconcerned" or "undiscriminating", or varying degrees, as per my references, i.e. very concerned, somewhat concerned, etc.
Robert Forstag Apr 15, 2016:
Re: "indifferent" "Indifferent" to me would imply that the persons in question are so completely unconcerned with their shopping choices that they would just as soon purchase Cheez Whiz, Doritos, and a bottle of Coke for their supper as a salad with organic vegetables, cage-free chicken breast, and fresh-squeezed orange juice. Because I don't think that level of unconcern is being implied here as regards the group of shoppers characterized as "despreocupados," I don't think that "indifferent" really works here.
I think "indifferent" is a very good option.
neilmac (asker) Apr 15, 2016:
My own take I was thinking "indifferent".... any thoughts on that as an option?
neilmac (asker) Apr 13, 2016:
So, I was about to close the query ... until I saw the three suggestions posted so far. I actually have an idea of my own, but I'll keep it under my hat for now to see if anyone else suggests the same thing. Thanks guys for the suggestions so far :)
neilmac (asker) Apr 13, 2016:
When posting, I got this message: "Existing Spanish to English KudoZ question(s) were found that are similar to your term. Please review these questions." However, I don't know how to do this (find and review them).

Note from asker:
Now researching this translation (yesterday I was working in 2 other areas as well), I came across this in a similar text already published, so your suggestion is now a strong contender. Tx :)

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Finally opted for this, which I've seen used in a couple of similar published papers. Although in the end, it was Roberts Cheese Whizz observation that swung the balance :-) Tx all for helping outagain."

Spanish term (edited): despreocupados

non-descriminating

I think that "unconcerned" could also work here.

Careless

That's how I would define someone who does not care about a number of issues --in this case, related to food/nutrition.
