Witty aphorisms
SPAIN. Another 'bon mot'. The dictionary offerings (troublemaker, agitator) seem rather more negative than my understanding of the Spanish usage, where artists are often described as "provocadores", but in a positive way.
"Yo no sé por qué los provocadores nos quejamos tanto de la gente convencional. Al fin y al cabo podemos provocar por que existen ellos."

agents provocateurs
Not quite so negative, and used in relation to artists.
I don't know why we agents provocateurs complain so much about people who are conventional. After all, we are only able to provoke such people because they exist.

Note from asker:
I decided to use "provocateurs" (sans agent) about 5 minute after posting, as it means I can use "provoke", as phil says :) |

instigator/mover/champion/actor
Souns like it's this kind of more neutral word you need. There are more in the Thesaurus.
Note from asker:
I'm aware of thesauruses (thesauri?) - however, I prefer human feedback and opinions in cases like this. My previous posting got a good reaction, so I put this one out there as well. |

those of us who provoke others
Yo no sé por qué los provocadores nos quejamos tanto de la gente convencional.
A basic translation with room for play
'I don't know why those of us who provoke others complain...'
or 'who enjoying provoking others'

Using the gerund in the first sentence would mean not having to repeat 'provoke'.
