: It's not really the 'duration des commendes...' that is commanded; it is, if you like, the duration for which the pump operates (viewed simplistically), which might or might not be related to the length of a control pulse.

it's controlled by the timing (how long/when the pump is switched on or off), instead of the purely mechanical compression of the air+diesel mixture.
