Spanish term

ranurada en la clave

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Environment & Ecology Landfill drainage
Any landfill drainage specialists out there this evening, please?!
Many thanks

Pipes are available in fully slotted, half slotted and solid wall options.

The slotted PVC or corrugated plastic pipes are laid at the base of a trench (slightly wider than the pipe itself) and back filled with permeable material almost to the surface This permeable layer intercepts the water flowing from upslope and delivers it into the large diameter drain pipe which carries the water to an outflow. This system prevents excessive upslope water from encroaching onto the flats.

Rows of water in-take slots are symmetrically arranged around the apex of the pipe (240°) with a flow channel at the bottom (120°). The high infiltration area combined with the thin inner wall structure ensures optimum water intake.

Peer comment(s):

agree Thomas Walker : "Slotted at the crown" is probably right. Not sure about "half-slotted" - size & configuration of slots will depend on the details of the application. There's a trade-off between infiltration capacity & conveyance capacity, as your last ref indicates.

Some of the references I found refer to 'half-slotted', which was why I included the term. Thank you, Tom :-)

In this context, 'clave' is usually 'crown' and looking at the diagram in the reference, there seems to be a couple of 'ranuras' in the position where the hands of a clock would be at 01.55.

Tubo ranurado is corrugated pipe but I don't think that works in this case.
