What makes you say that, Eileen? It's perfectly reasonable to assume a performer or musician would give authority to an agent/agency to exercise their non-pecuniary rights (i.e., rights to modify or use the works, publish them, etc.). The term "agency" simply refers to that. If you think it sounds odd, just add "agreement" to it, i.e. an explicit agency agreement is needed for the defence of non-pecuniary rights.

Hi Eileen, yes it would apply in this context because agency refer to the power of representation. Try searching for the legal definition of agency in the context of business.

@Robert Carter Hi Robert, this text is related to SGAE and copyrights, I am not sure that "Agency" would be applicable in such context. What do you think? I usually refer to SGAE as a Society, which is what it is, a society to protect music and book, magazine and screen writers' rights related to their written publications and music.
