Spanish term

jardín de invierno (patio de invierno)

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering

For what it's worth, I learned this from translating German gardening books:

agree Frank Foley : Absolutely! Also, "invernadero", which also features in the website definition, gives "conservatory" in Collins.

neutral philgoddard : Your references aren't relevant. Your first is a translation from Portuguese, your second is just pictures of garden furniture, and your third is about outdoor dining.

Winter gardens

The most appropriate translation will depend on the appearance and purpose of the structure in question. Without further information, I wouldn't be sure which term to use.

As phil so graciously notes, we have pictures. And the images in the link (which I hadn't looked at) are indeed conservatories.

neutral philgoddard : We have pictures, and a description of how they're made. You wouldn't say "I'm having a new winter garden put on my house" :-)
