Could anyone help with the term 'encuadramiento del índice', please?
It is connected to how mistakes are made in measurements and refers to the way scales are read.
Thanks in advance.

framing of the indicator
I think from the other examples that the "indice" is the needle or indicator itself that may be difficult to read correctly

It does not look like a term that might be come across frequently. In this case I think they are just saying that the way the needle is designed makes it hard to read, so "design" might do instead.

Note from asker:
Thanks for your suggestion. I have looked up this expression, but it doesn't refer to reading scales. Thanks anyway. |

Index bounding
The index measurement includes mistakes, but we know the extent to which those mistakes affect the index. This means that we know the index's lower and higher limits or boundaries.

In other terms, the index isn't a point. It can vary within an interval.

Thanks Francois. I've also looked up your suggestion, but from what I can gather it means something very different. Thanks anyway. |
Thanks Francois. This is also a possibility, but again 'index bounding' means something else according to the websites I've seen. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to answer. |
Oops, have added two notes. |

(how) fit(s) within the index
- or doesn't as a 'misfit'. I think this -as rwefelcted in the first Discussion Enbtry - is what the trite header is trying to say, whilst the cognate French-weasel word of 'encadrement' also has that 'fit' meaning, besides many others.

Example sentence:
An important property of the proposed index of the lack of fit is that if we have two models H and K, with H C K, then K*
Figure 5 shows the misfit index for the four-dimensional parameter space in the region near the best-fitting parameter set.

PS. Phil's suggestions might work better in the context.

Likewise, Patinba's suggestion might be a better option, and"framing" works better than framework, and Aidrian's comment is also worth considering too. The original isn't terrbly clear to start with....

Example sentence:
MAP index is a uniquely designed management framework for systematically managing best practices in business organizations
Note from asker:
Another plausible option, but your suggestion is something to do with statistical modelling, and not metrology. Thanks very much though for taking the time to answer. |
