Discussion

Chris Hopley Jul 2, 2009:
textiles Hi Frank. Textiles are not really my thing TBH, but linguistically I can't really see any meaningful difference between a kaderweving and geweven kader. Cf. jacquard weave border vs. jacquard woven border vs. border in jacquard weave.
Frank Hesse (asker) Jul 1, 2009:
Thanks, Chris. I'm still struggling with it, in view of the following terms used in the text: "ingeweven witte kaderband", "jacquard geweven kader". I don't feel I can use "border" here, or?

jacquard woven band

Could be border or band as far as words go. Depends on whether it appears on all sides of the textile (border) or just one (band). The web ref. below has a photos depicting what I would call a 'border' but they call it a band. Here it is named 'satin band', but that is is still woven with a jacquard loom. Chris may well be right!
