off study -> means to withdraw from the reseach study.
I would presume the subjects are patients with leukemia or specifically APL, receiving conventional therapy. If the conventional therapy fails to control the disease, the subjects have limited medical alternatives, among the treatments mentioned above, if the subject chose low dose cytarabine, then he should withdraw from the study.
