I've a feeling this one has come up before in FR > EN, and if my memory serves me correctly, this was the term, or something very like it.
Not that 'theatrical' in EN movie jargon means 'cinema', and I think we usually refer to that generally as 'salle' in FR.

In fact, in the film world, I think 'distribution' is probably more appropriate than 'diffusion', though there are a few Ghits for it in this sort of context.
