English term

gobbledegook

English to French Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology) virus
the yankee doodle virus plays this American tune on the computer's small internal speaker every day at 5 pm. Others have serious effects. They attache themselves to the operating system and can wipe out all your data or turn it into gobbledegook.

"bouillie pour les chats"

Charabia : dans certains contextes, incompréhensible parce qu'abstrus, mais avec "de la bouillie pour les chats", pas d'ambiguïté possible !

agree Marc Theriault : "... ou en faire de la bouillie pour les chats"? Moi, j'aime bien cette proposition!

English term (edited): turn it into gobbledegook

les brouiller

Since the idea is of 'complete nonsense' (rather than something that is puzzlingly difficult to understand), I'd suggest this with the idea of 'scramble your data' — as long as, of course, the context preclude any misunderstanding for deliberate scrambling for data security! But from the text we have here, that seems unlikely.

'les' because of course 'data' ought to be plural: 'vos données'
Peer comment(s):

neutral Marc Theriault : La proposition est tres correcte, Tony, mais il me semble qu'elle coupe un peu court à la phrase. Mon impression! : )

Merci, Marc ! I don't think it's necessary in this instance to copy the jokey style for this part of the phrase, since I don't think we have an equivalent set expression in FR for 'to turn into gobbledy-gook'
