comportement à rupture
I'm only basing this on translations I have done with "breakthrough innovation" which is "innovation de rupture".

comportement de rupture/comportement de percée
frome the sentence context, one can deduct that this is a diffusion phenomena of tritum into beryllium. The corrosion literature talks of breakthrough curves (concentration level vs time), the tipping point where adsorbed compounds become absorbed or difffuses into the material. Another option would be comportement de percée.
