no... a system cannot take off the plug :) but there is this idea of disconnection/interruption
"System" may refer to "disjoncteur" ? In this case, "le disjoncteur s'enclenche/se déclenche" but "disconnect" is one of the synonyms of "disengage"

desenchufar algo den Stecker herausziehen Did you mean pull off the plug? Not found in the context. The context refers to monitoring of arcing and subsequent disconnection triggered by controls.

couper n'est pas une bonne traduction pour "disengage". Couper means to break, to switch off, to interrupt, etc. Disengage means to release.

Contre-sens possible ! déclencher, verbe transitif
Sens 1 Amorcer, mettre en marche. Synonyme lancer Anglais (appareil) to start, (mécanisme) to activate, (sonnerie) to set off, (grève) to trigger off.
I have seen "déclencher" used for stopping/cutting off/disengage too - but surely it's a dangerous translation?

If the editor was aware what he wrote, I must accept that he did not describe any switching action, but some tripping or release mechanism, which controls the switchgear.
The translation of disengage is déclencher.

Vous avez raison. Je voulais traduire littéralement et éviter "coupure" et similaire, parce que le terme est "disengaged" et pas "switched, isolated or interrupted".
