difficile
I guess "picky" is more pejorative than positive. French tends to use the word "difficile" with food. You may find "mangeur difficile"

It really depends on the context, I'd probably go for something like:
Il est vraiment difficile à l'égard de la nourriture.
or some similar periphrase using the adjective "difficile".
