English term
insurer vs carrier
English to Spanish
Bus/Financial
Insurance
Medicare Supplement Contract
I need two different terms, I'm thinking of using "compañía de seguros" as the translation for Carrier and "aseguradora" for Insurer, but I'm not sure if this is correct.

asegurador(a) vs. corredor(a) de seguros
These terms tend to be country-specific, in both en and es.
In the UK, for example, an 'insurance company' is an 'asegurador(a)', whilst an insurance vendor is an 'insurance broker' (who may sell insurance provided by several 'insurance companies'.
Likewise, here in Chile (again, just as an example), an 'insurer' (in the UK sense of 'insurance company' - i.e. the people who actually assume the risk), is an 'asegurador(a)', whilst the high-street vendor (UK: broker) is a 'corredor de seguros'.
The best terms for your ST will depend on the target country, and on proper identification of who is assuming the risk.

Please: either read my answer before making rash judgements; or, post an answer with a valid translation of 'carrier' (and indicate the country/ies where your preferred terminology is used).

Insurance Carrier
An insurance carrier is not the same as an insurance agent. An insurance carrier is the company which holds your insurance policy. It is the company in which your insurance payments go to and the company in which pays if you file a covered claim.
