Discussion

Asghar Bhatti Jul 2, 2005:
Akhri ishat= last publication.it means no more publications after this.I am unable to subscibe to it.
Shahab Arif Jul 2, 2005:
Why dont we say it "Akhri Ishat " this one suits the most.
Shahab Arif Jul 2, 2005:
I think if we only say"Akhri Tarteeb" it will be much suitable instead of Akhri jadeed tarteeb as it shows akhri as well as jadeed both have different meanings.
Non-ProZ.com Jul 1, 2005:
Also, I should have written "Brochures" instead of "Newsletter". Actually, these brochures are updated as & when required.
Non-ProZ.com Jul 1, 2005:
Instead of making the translation very long, can't we just use "Akhari jadeed tarteeb"? What do you think? I am particularly interested in a short translation rather than a complete definition.

Comment: "I appreciate your efforts, but I will have to decline this translation just because it is absolutely not a good usage of Urdu terms and the translation looks awkward."

Akhri tasheeh

Akhri means,"Last" and tasheeh means corrected. Hence Akhri taheeh means, last time it was corrected or updated.

No, you can\'t. Updated means:to bring it up to date, to modify. Alternate words for \"update\" in Oxford Dictionary and Thesaurus are: to bring up to date, correct, Modernize, and revise. As you can see that no single ,word, term or sentence suggested so far(inlcuding \"tasheeh\" conveys the true meaning.
I am basically an interpreter and while interpreting we do not translate we try to convey what the speaker means. Hence though I agree that tasheeh means correction , probably, it would have cnveyed the meaning. Another word which comes to mind is, \"Nazre-sani\". But it also means to revise. If these terms are not agreed upon, then I would suggest using the word updated written in URDU FONTS. Urdu language is known for adopting words from other languages. You could write e.g. Mai 2004 main update ki gai. To me this is best solution. Thanks
