"timoneries" is slightly more likely. Would make sense as a source of unwanted noise.

Hi Tony and Polyglot, Thank you for responding. It has to be "timoneries", so it's obviously a typo. I'm told the background of this is auto interiors. I have "blocs d'excitation" as "excitation blocks", which sounds literal, but I did find it in researching. Not necessarily the same context - pretty technical.

@ Asker: Context? What exactly are these 'étapes' — and what are the 'blocs d'excitation'? I suspect this is about noise generated by different road surfaces (pavés parisiens?), so I suspect 'simoneries' (or something close to it) is probably more likely than 'timoneries', which AFAIK are not something you normally drive over?
