The suggestion above is almost literal as I picked elements out from the UK/US definitions of "accident". I chose "event" for 事故 since it seems more appropriate here since "accident" would be a bit of duplicaton. You might like to use one of the formulae below depending on the target audience.

An accident in the UK is usually defined by an insurer as "a sudden, unexpected, unusual, specific, violent, external event" (e.g. http://www.bluedoginsurance.co.uk/jargon.htm) and in the US as "a sudden, unexpected, unintended and external event" (e.g. http://www.csatravelprotection.com/csa/terms-travel-insuranc...
